File Explorer scroll bar keeps jumping to top of folder in Windows 10 When I open a folder in Windows 10 File Explorer, which has a lot of large files, my scroll bar which is on the right side, does not hold - but instead it automatically jumps to the top of files.
I am working with adding up user's scores based on their checks in a CheckBoxList. Every time a user checks a box, a value, X, is added to the overall score. When a user unchecks a box, a value, X, is subtracted from the overall score. No problems here. The problem that I am having is that using the AutoPostback option in the CheckBoxList properties forces the page to load back to the top instead of staying where the user was situated, which means that they have to keep scrolling down after each check/uncheck.
Is there a way to prevent this?

Stop Scrolling Screen
I did a little searching on the internets & couldn't find a solution.I have a large document (20+ pages). Sometimes, if I press the arrow key multiple times or if I scroll with the scroll wheel on the mouse the screen display will all of a sudden jump to the top of the document. I have no idea what happens to the cursor. (If I start arrow-key-ing at that point, the cursor will show up at the top of the screen.)So, then I'm lost because I can't remember exactly where I was, and even on those rare moments that I do it's a pain to have to find that place again.Has my explanation of what's going on made sense?More importantly, any idea on how to avoid this?TIA,###. I have a lenovo 3 mouse button laptop. The center button, if pressed, can result in excel moving all the way to the top or all the way to the bottom. It misbehaves until the middle button is pressed.Yeah, that's a common (and good) guess, but it's definitely not what's going on here.I'm on a desktop.with an old-fashioned-wired keyboard & an old-fashioned-wired-two-button-one-scroll-wheel-mouse.It happens when I'm using only the arrow keys on the keyboard. It happens when I'm using only the scroll wheel on the mouse. So, it's not me accidentally brushing the mouse pad (since there isn't one) or pressing the wrong mouse button (since there isn't one).
Quote:I remember Word well, but I think perhaps this issue doesn't require any special knowledge. If I'm wrong, you can have your friend clarify further. There's a possibility he doesn't understand the idea of the view position (where the document is scrolled to) and the edit position (where the cursor - the blinking bar - is). Moving the arrow keys moves the cursor (so will typing), and if it's been scrolled off the screen, Word will scroll so it's visible. Scrolling with the mouse wheel or clicking in the scroll bar at the far right will move the view position, but not the edit cursor. So if he's scrolled way down in the document - view position has changed, but edit cursor is still at the top - and hits an arrow key, it will try to scroll so the edit cursor is visible, and poof, he's back at the top. There is a feature called 'Smart Cursoring' that should stop the jumping (arrow keys after scrolling will stay on the visible page). I've never messed with it and it was already on for me, so maybe he or someone else turned it off. To turn it on, he can click File at the top left, Options in the left pane, then Advanced in the left pane of the Options dialog, and on the first page click to turn on 'Use smart cursoring' - based on the behavior he describes it should be unchecked now. If it's already checked, let me know; that would be odd.(If that doesn't work, if he either navigates via the cursor keys (and/or page up and page down) instead of scrolling, or just clicks on any text in the page he's scrolled to, that will move the edit cursor and then hitting the arrow keys won't cause a jump.
If none of those work, let me know - also check what other applications he's running, and see if the problem repros without them running. Some badly-behaved apps will inject keys into other innocent apps.).
